The Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL)

Monmouth County USBC is dedicated to doing whatever we can to "Brighten Veterans Lives". Since 2008, the MC USBC has donated over $68,000 to the BVL. The NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park has received over $61,000 of that total with the rest supporting BVL's National programs.

BVL was founded in 1942 to help support America’s heroes in uniform. Since then, we have raised almost $50 million to provide recreational and therapeutic programs and services. These programs and services will help boost their morale and brighten spirits. Thanks to BVL, more than 550 active duty units have a portable carpet bowling lane at their disposal. Now they can step away from the stress of service and have fun with their comrades. Through funding and support, these veterans recuperating at VA Medical Centers across the country can enjoy a movie, spend the afternoon hanging at a ball game, play a video game, be visited by friendly Labrador, or try their hand at painting.

On Monday, November 21st, 2023, Monmouth County USBC presented our annual check at the NJ Veterans Home at Menlo Park.

We were very pleased to be able to donate funds for the veterans benefit. This money will be used to enhance the living experience for those suffering from Dementia / Alzheimer's, and give them a more homey environment. Equipment for their recreation activities will be purchased as part of this donation. In the past, our funds have supported to installation of aquariums to help the residents stay calm and relax.

During the 2022-2023 season, we collected over $25,000.00, of which $11,517 is designated for Menlo Park, $5,500 went to Fisher House to support the Veterans, $5,500 to Honor Flight and $2,500 goes to BVL for their national programs. We have partnered with the Menlo Park facility for over 15 years and have donated more than $85,000 since 2008. We applaud the bowlers of Monmouth County for supporting our efforts and being so willing to participate.
