TOURNAMENT RULES AND FORMAT
NOTE:
- Entry Applications must be filled out in complete detail. First Full NAME WITH LAST NAME. NO NICK NAMES OR INITIALS.
- Average and USBC Number MUST be on the entry for EACH bowler.
- Captains affidavit must be signed.
Tournament Eligibility
- Competition is open to Monmouth County USBC Members who have bowled 21 or more games in 1 league from 2024-25 season by March 1, 2025 or 21 games in the 24 Summer.
- Any Monmouth County USBC member who HAS EVER WON A REGULAR OR REGIONAL PBA/PWBA/OR PBA 50 EVENT shall be eligible to bowl as follows:
- NOT more than ONE such bowler in a four-bowler team lineup.
- Each such bowler shall be eligible to enter the singles event and all events.
- Only ONE such bowler in the doubles event.
ENTRY LIMIT – TEAM EVENT:
Bowlers may bowl the Team event more than once if 2 of the bowlers are different.
ENTRY LIMIT – Singles and Doubles:
- Bowlers may bowl the Singles and Doubles event more than once if 1 of the bowlers is different. Limit one re-entry per bowler.
- Singles and Doubles will bowl together and both bowlers must enter both events.
- The Singles event will be bowled first.
- Bowlers will change lanes after the Singles event.
- Bowlers will only be allowed to cash once in the Singles event.
ENTRY LIMIT – ALL EVENTS:
The All Events shall be conducted in three divisions on a net score basis only as follows:
- Class A: For entrants with 210 average or higher
- Class B: For entrants with 185-209 average
- Class C: For entrants with 184 average or lower
Entrants average under the tournament rules determines the class they must bowl in. Participation in ALL EVENTS Prize list is optional upon payment of $5.00 per person entry fee. When a bowler competes more than once in the team or doubles event, their first appearance shall count toward the “ALL EVENTS” total,
Substitutes
Substitutes may be used, when necessary, as long as substitute meets all rules of eligibility. NO substitute will be accepted for all events prize list participation when any one event or portion of an event has been bowled by the original entrant or another substitute. If any substitute is assuming the ALL EVENTS of another bowler, the substitute must report the proposed transfer to the Tournament Manager prior to bowling in their first scheduled event. If found eligible, said bowler must then compete in the All Events class determined by their entering average.
AVERAGES
- A bowler will use the highest previous season’s Standard USBC certified average, regardless of where bowled, based on the higher of a minimum of 21 games from Winter 2023-2024.
- If bowler’s previous season is only from a Sport/PBA league they will use the converted Sport/PBA average conversion chart and use that average.
- If no 2023-2024 Winter average, then use highest 2024 USBC certified Summer Standard average of 21 games or more.
- If summer average is only in a Sport/PBA league, then the converted average will be used.
- A bowler who does not have a previous season USBC certified averag shall be accepted on the basis of the highest 21 or more games USBC certified Standard average of the current regular season at the time of entry mailing or online registration. A WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF CURRENT AVERAGE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THIS APPLICATION.
- A bowler who does not have a previous season USBC certified Standard average but only has a current Sport/PBA average shall be accepted on the basis of the highest 21 or more games using the Sport/PBA converted average at the time of entry mailing or online registration. A WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF CURRENT AVERAGE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THIS APPLICATION.
- If a bowler’s current average is 15 pins or more higher than the previous years or summer average ((A) and (B) above), they must use their current average.
- If no 2023-2024 average. Bowler will enter with a 240 average.
re-rating
- Re-rating, if deemed necessary by this Association, will be accomplished prior to bowling and in full accordance with USBC Rules.
- Entrants should be familiar with re-rating requirements of USBC rules.
- If the entrant chooses not to bowl with the adjusted average, the bowler’s entry fee shall be returned.
HANDICAPS
Will be based on 90% of the bowler’s average and scratch average of 240
- Team scratch is: 960
- Doubles scratch is: 480
- Singles scratch is: 240
GENERAL
- All lanes will be assigned.
- Captains shall report to check in within 60 minutes of scheduled time to bowl.
- Entrants must give 1st and 2nd squad choice.
- No entry money received before the closing date will be returned after the entries close.
CAPTAINS RESPONSIBILITY
The individual whose name appears on the entry blank as Captain shall be held responsible for all information on the entry blank. Any falsely stated averages that are lower than average shall disqualify the individuals involved from their prize money together with forfeiture of bowling and expense fee. Averages that are higher than bowlers actual average will be used for handicap events.
PREMATURE TERMINATION OF TOURNAMENT:
Brought about by war, terrorism, national emergency, or emergency causes relating thereto or therefrom fires, strikes, lockouts, labor difficulties or other reasons beyond control of MC USBC shall cause the foregoing prizes schedules to be prorated in accordance with the number of entrants who have bowled in each of the respective events up to the time of termination
