Eligibility is for sanctioned Monmouth County USBC currently certified bowlers for the 26/27 Season, consisting of one team member age 50+, one female, and one open role (female, 50+ or under 50). Must be 18 years of age or older. Youth bowlers are not eligible.

TOURNAMENT RULES AND FORMAT

TOURNAMENT RULES

  1. CONTROL: The Monmouth County Combo Trios Tournament is an official function of the Monmouth County USBC conducted on a Handicap and Scratch basis. Rules of the United States Bowling Congress will be strictly enforced.
  2. ELIGIBILITY: (All Participants must be sanctioned in Monmouth County for the 26/27 Season and meet 1 of the following criteria and be 18 years of age or older. Youth bowlers are not eligible.)
  3. 21 Games in one league in the current 2026/27 winter season in Monmouth County.
  4. 21 games in one league in the 2025/26 winter season in Monmouth County
  5. 21 games in 2026 summer season in one Monmouth County league.
  6. Any Monmouth County Hall of Fame Members.
  7. Competition
  8. Each team will consist of 3 bowlers. 1 bowler must be female, 1 bowler must be 50+ on the day of the tournament, 1 bowler can be any bowler that meets any of the eligibility requirements.
  9. At least 1 person must be designated for each role. The open role can be 50+ or female but will not count towards those roles. (Example 1 Female 50+ and 2 open bowlers – not allowed. 3 Female 50+ - Allowed)
  10. Lane assignments will be made by random draw by the tournament manager.
  11. 1 team will be assigned to each lane.
  12. Teams will bowl 3 regular games across 6 lanes and 6 baker games across 2 lanes.
  13. Baker games will alternate order of the bowlers.
  14. Games 1,4 – 50+ bowls frames 1,4,7,10; Female bowls frames 2,5,8; Open bowls frames 3,6,9.
  15. Games 2,5 – 50+ bowls frames 3,6,9; Female bowls frames 1,4,7,10; Open bowls frames 2,5,8.
  16. Games 3,6 – 50+ bowls frames 2,5,8; Female bowls frames 3,6,9; Open bowls frames 1,4,7,10.
  17. All participants will be allowed 10 minutes of practice on their starting pair only.
  18. Average
  19. A bowler will use the highest Standard USBC certified average, regardless of where bowled, based on the higher of a minimum of 21 games from Winter 2025-2026.
  20. If bowler’s previous season is only from a Sport/PBA league they will use the converted Sport/PBA average conversion chart and use that average. If no 2025-2026 Winter average, then use highest 2026 USBC certified Summer Standard average of 21 games or more.
  21. If summer average is only in a Sport/PBA league, then the converted average will be used.
  22. A bowler who does not have a previous season USBC certified average shall be accepted based on the highest 21 or more games USBC certified Standard average of the current regular season at the time of entry mailing or online registration. A WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF CURRENT AVERAGE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THIS APPLICATION.
  23. A bowler who does not have a previous season USBC certified Standard average but only has a current Sport/PBA average shall be accepted based on the highest 21 or more games using the Sport/PBA converted average at the time of entry mailing or online registration. A WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF CURRENT AVERAGE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THISAPPLICATION.
  24. If a bowler’s current average is 15 pins or higher than the previous years or summer average (A) and (B) above, they must use their current average.
  25. If there is no average from the above list, bowlers will enter with a 240 average.
  26. Handicap
  27. Individual handicap for each bowler will be based on 90% of the difference between the bowler’s average and 240, rounding down to a whole number.
  28. For Baker games handicap will be the sum of the 3 bowlers handicap divided by 3, rounding down to a whole number.
  29. Prize Fund
  30. The prize fund will be split between handicap and scratch. 75% Handicap: 25 % Scratch.
  31. team can cash in both handicap and scratch.
  32. Miscellaneous
  33. The tournament manager reserves all rights.
