TOURNAMENT RULES AND FORMAT

TOURNAMENT RULES

ELIGIBILITY: Participation is limited to include all Monmouth County USBC Association officials and every league officer who holds a current Monmouth County USBC certified membership card and is/was a league official for the current 2024-2025 winter season or 2024 summer season. The league officers must be on file with the Tournament Manager prior to February 1 of the current winter season. Eligibility includes all life members and Sergeant-at-Arms. A league Team Captain by definition is not eligible unless he or she is also a league officer.

SUBSTITUTES: A substitute must also be a league official and meet eligibility requirements. No substitute will be permitted after a participant has started the competition unless the original player cannot continue to bowl. If that occurs, the substitute will start bowling the next game.

FORMAT: This tournament is a 90% handicap based on a 480 team average.

DRESS CODE: There is no dress code for this tournament.

TEAM ENTRY: Any two eligible officers/directors may join together as a doubles team. There is no restriction on any combination of eligible team partners, whether or not they are from the same league or one is a county official or an officer from another league. Different partners may participate one time on each squad.

AVERAGES: Will be based on the following (A), (B), and (C) definitions

(A)    A bowler will use the highest previous season’s Standard USBC certified average, regardless of where bowled, based on the higher of a minimum of 21 games from Winter 2023-2024.

(B)    If bowler’s previous season is only from a Sport/PBA league they will use the converted Sport/PBA average conversion chart and use that average

(C)    If no 2023-2024 Winter average, then use highest 2024 USBC certified Summer Standard average of 21 games or more.

(D)    If summer average is only in a Sport/PBA league then the converted average will be used.

(E)    A bowler who does not have a previous season USBC certified average shall be accepted on the basis of the highest 21 or more games USBC certified Standard average of the current regular season at the time of entry mailing or online registration. A WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF CURRENT AVERAGE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THIS APPLICATION.

(F)     A bowler who does not have a previous season USBC certified Standard average but only has a current Sport/PBA average shall be accepted on the basis of the highest 21 or more games using the Sport/PBA converted average at the time of entry mailing or online registration. A WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF CURRENT AVERAGE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THIS APPLICATION.

  1. Note: If a bowler’s current average is 15 pins or more higher than the previous year’s or summer average ((A) and (B) above), they must use their current average.
  2. Note: If no 2023-2024 average. Bowler will enter with a 240 average.

Any USBC certified average obtained from a sport or challenge pattern will be adjusted based on the USBC average conversion chart.

If a submitted average is lower than any verifiable true average, resulting in a greater number of handicap pins, the score(s) shall be disqualified.

USBC Rules 319a1 (a & b), 2 will not apply as they refer to adjusting an average, or the listing of prior prize winnings.
