TOURNAMENT RULES AND FORMAT
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
- 5 game qualifying block – 8 teams will advance to match play round
- Finals format are single elimination matches
- The match play bracket for the 1st round is as follows based on 8 teams make finals: 1 vs. 8; 4 vs. 5; 3 vs. 6; 2 vs. 7
- The losing teams will be placed 5th through 8th based on handicap totals
- The 2nd round matches will consist of the 4 teams winning their 1st round matches
- The losing teams in the 2nd round will be placed 3rd and 4th based on handicap total
- The final match will be the remaining 2 teams left
HANDICAP
The handicap will be 90% of the difference of the team average of 2023-2024 season and a scratch figure of 480. If no average, please read Rule #7 on the back of the application. Average availability will be used in that order.
TOURNAMENT RULES
- All games bowled in the Monmouth County USBC Over/Under Tournament will be governed under the rules of the United States Bowling Congress. All bowlers must have a current 2024-2025 Monmouth County USBC Membership. All bowlers must have a Monmouth County 2023-2024 certified average with a minimum of twenty-one(21) games in a Monmouth County league, either fall/winter 2023-2024 or summer 2024.
- Tournament management reserves the right to reject or re-rate any entrant prior to the entrant’s 1st game.
- All bowlers must present their current USBC ID certification card and driver’s license to verify proof of age. There will be no on-site sanctioning on the day of the tournament. If bowler does not have a driver’s license, he/she must be able to supply the Tournament verification committee with an acceptable form of identification showing date of birth.
- For purposes of this Tournament the Senior member of the team must be 45 years old or over on the date of bowling, the junior member must be under the age of 45 by the date of bowling.
- This is a handicap tournament with competition as a Doubles event only.
- The handicap will be based on 90% of the difference between the entering team average and 480.
- ENTERING AVERAGES: USBC certified averages are used in the follow order (based on a minimum of 21 games in a USBC certified league):
- A bowler will use the highest previous season’s standard USBC certified average, regardless of where bowl based on 21 games or more from 2023-2024.
- If bowler’s previous season is only from Sport/PBA league that individual will use the converted Sport/PBA average conversion chart.
- If no 2023-2024 Winter average, then use highest 2024 USBC certified Summer standard average of 21 games or more.
- If Summer average is only in a Sport/PBA league then the converted average will be used.
- A bowler who does not have a previous season USBC certified average shall be accepted on the basis of the highest 21 or more games USBC certified Standard average of the current regular season at the time of entry mailing or online registration. A WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF CURRENT AVERAGE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THIS APPLICATION.
- A bowler who does not have a previous season USBC certified Standard average but only has a current Sport/PBA converted average at the time of entry mailing or online registration. A WRITTEN VERIFICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THIS APPLICATION.
- If a bowler’s current average is 15 pins or more higher than the previous year’s or summer average ((A) and (B) above), the current average must be used.
- If no averages from above list, bowler will enter with a 240 average.
- Rules 319A-2 and 319A-3 will NOT apply.
- If submitted average is found to be lower than actual average, the scores will be disqualified. If submitted averages are found to be higher, prize winnings will be based on the submitted averages. Each entrant is responsible for verification of their entering averages. Average corrections must be brought to the attention of the tournament committee prior to the start of bowling.
