TOURNAMENT RULES AND FORMAT
- To be eligible, all women bowlers (age 18 and above) must have a 2024/25 current membership in USBC through Monmouth, Ocean, or Middlesex-Union County. Walk-ins will not be accepted, all entries must be paid by June 20, 2025. We must have a minimum of 15 entries by June 18, 2025 to host tournament. All bowlers must sanction through league, or an event hosted by Monmouth, Middlesex-Union or Ocean Counties prior to the Queen’s Tournament. All previous champions are eligible to bowl in this event. Sanctioning will not be granted for this specific event.
- Entrants will abide by the rules of the USBC. USBC rules 319a, 319d, and 319e do not apply.
- Entry fee cannot be transferred. Entry fee will be refunded to that participant that cannot bowl in the tournament because of situation that is out of their control. Example of this will be illness, family emergency, etc.
- Dress Code will be strictly enforced – Appropriate bowling attire must be worn. Competitors may wear dress slacks, capris, shorts, dresses, skirts or skorts. Length of skirt, dresses, skorts or shorts must be below the competitor’s fingertips when they are standing, and their arms are hanging down by their side. Length of skirt, dresses, skort and shorts MUST be long enough to not see your bottom area at any time, standing or bending over. Appropriate tops include bowling, sport, mock turtleneck, sleeveless short with collar or dress shirt with a collar (butterfly). No T-shirts, hats, tank tops, leggings (unless under skirt), yoga pants or sweatpants allowed.
- Lane conditions: Pattern to be announced prior to tournament.
- The tournament will be conducted on a scratch basis.
- Each entrant will be assigned a starting lane. Please notify Tournament Director in advance for any special pairing requests.
- All entrants must report to the lanes one half hour prior to scheduled start time. A player arriving late will receive a score of zero for each frame missed and her score will count beginning in the frame then being bowled.
- Qualifying Round – All entrants will bowl 5 games across 5 pairs of lanes, using a lane rotation designated by the Tournament Manager. After 5 games, the field will be cut to 1-in-4 based on total entries. In event of tie, a 9th and 10th frame roll off will determine the final qualifying spot.
- Semi-Final Round: Qualifying bowlers will bowl an additional three games. The top 4 based on total 8 game pinfall will then advance to the step ladder finals. In the event of a tie during the semi-final round, a one ball sudden death format will take place to determine the final step ladder spot.
- Final Round: After the 8-game qualifying round, the top 4 qualifiers will advance to single game stepladder final based on total pinfall. The number three and four seeds will bowl first, with the winner advancing against the number two seed, the winner of this match will advance to bowl the number one seed for the Monmouth County USBC Queens title.
- For the 5-game qualifying round and the semi-final round, there will be seven minutes of practice on your starting lanes. After qualifying, the participants that advanced to the stepladder will receive three minutes of practice for the first-round match. Each match going forward, there will be two shots thrown on each lane before the match starts. A practice lane will be available to higher seed finalists awaiting their match.
- All prize fees collected will be returned 100% to the participants. Prize fund will be 1:4 ratio based on the number of entrants. All semi-finalists will be awarded prize money. An optional Senior event for those aged 55 and over, for an additional $20, will be based on total pinfall for the first 5 games of qualifying. 1:5 seniors will be awarded prize money.
- The decision of the Tournament Committee shall be final unless an appeal is made in accordance with USBC rule #329.
- Active College bowlers are responsible to confirm their own eligibility to receive prizes. A waiver may be signed to submit funds into SMART if applicable.
