TOURNAMENT RULES AND FORMAT

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. Tournament will be conducted under the rules of the USBC except where noted below. All entrants must be a member of the Monmouth County USBC and be at least 50 years of age by Nov 3, 2024. All bowlers must have a Monmouth County 2023-2024 sanction average with a minimum of 21 games in a Monmouth County league, either winter or summer, and must be sanctioned in Monmouth County for 2024-2025 current season. This is a Scratch Tournament. Tournament officials reserve the right to ask any entrant to present their USBC card. There will be no sanctioning available on site.



2. DRESS CODE: All participants must wear full-length trousers and a bowling sport shirt or shirt with a collar (butterfly).Dress slacks, casual trousers and jeans are permitted. NO T-SHIRTS, HATS, SHORTS OR SWEAT PANTS ARE ALLOWED. UBA, Federation, and X-League Shirts are prohibited.


3. Each entrant will bowl a (5) five game block across the house, skipping lanes after each game. Based on 49 but not more than 57 entries cut will be top 13 qualifiers, plus the defending champion will compete in the finals. The defending champion will be seeded 7th unless they qualify higher, top 2 positions will have a 1st round bye. If entries are 41 but not more than 48, the field will be cut to the top 11 bowlers plus the defending champion. Qualifying positions 6-12 will participate in a 1 additional game round robin, where the 3 highest cumulative scores will advance to the bracket final. The defending champion will be seeded 5th unless they qualify higher. If the entries are 33 but less than 41, the field will get cut to the top 9 plus the defending champion. Qualifying positions 6-10 will participate in a 1 additional game round robin, where the 3 highest cumulative scores will advance to the bracket final. The defending champion will be seeded 5th unless they qualify higher. If entries are less than 33, the field will be cut to top 7 plus defending champion, who will be seeded 5th unless they qualify higher. In case of a tie for the last qualifying position, a one game roll-off will decide the last qualifier. If a tie still exists two additional frames shall be bowled and scored like the ninth and tenth frames. These frames shall be rolled on the same lanes on which the participants finished the roll-off game. If necessary, this format will continue until the tie is broken. This same format ninth and tenth frame, shall be used to determine a winner if there is a tie in total pins after match play. Finals will be two game total series single elimination matches. All other matches will be 1 game.

For each match in the finals, the higher seeded (1 being the highest) bowler, will have the option of starting first, or choice of lane. PBA format will be followed. The first bowler throws 1st frame, then 2nd bowler bowls 

2 frames, and then alternate 2 frames the rest of the game. The 2nd game, the bowler who started game 1 will bowl 2nd in game 2.


If the defending champion chooses not to bowl the qualifying round, they must still pay the $80 entry fee.


4. Re-Racks, Two per game are allowed. Additional re-racks must be approved by a tournament official.


5. In addition to the prize money, the winner will be offered a paid entry into the State USBC Senior Masters Tournament. If he/she declines the offer, all funds will be returned to the tournament expense fund.


6. Depending on the total amount of entries, the tournament committee reserves the right to schedule 

two or three participants to a lane.


7. Bowlers must wear bowling shoes which will not damage or disfigure the approaches. The use of any foreign substance put on the bowling shoes which mar the approaches is strictly prohibited, this includes talc powder.


8. The tournament chairman or tournament committee will render on the spot decisions when required. All tournament management decisions shall be final except where an appeal is made to the USBC headquarters.


9. Online Tournament entries will close Midnight Sunday October 27, 2024, Mail-in Tournament entries will close Midnight Friday November 1, 2024. NO WALK-INS ALLOWED

10. Prize money will be paid out 100%, including $100 entry into State Senior Masters to the Winner.
