TOURNAMENT RULES AND FORMAT

  1. All games bowled in the Paul Albrecht Sr. Open Seniors Tournament are subject to the rules of the United States Bowling Congress. The tournament management reserves the right to reject or re-rate any entrant.
  2. All bowlers, 50 years of age or older, who are members of MONMOUTH COUNTY USBC certified league with 21 games for the 2024-2025 season or have 21 games in a 2024 summer league are eligible to compete.
  3. This is a Handicap tournament; Singles, Doubles, and All Events. Handicap is 90% of 240 for singles and All Events, 480 for doubles
  4. There is no limit on the amount of handicap.
  5. Average classifications are used for singles, doubles and all events.
  6. Entrants are eligible to compete more than once in Singles and/or Doubles events, but can cash only once.  Only the 1st entry counts towards the All Events total (USBC RULE 315) Re-entry applications must be submitted up to 1 hour before squad starts, providing lanes are available
  7. USBC certified averages are used in the following order (based on a minimum of 21 games in a USBC certified league):
  8. A bowler will use the highest previous season’s Standard USBC certified average, regardless of where bowled, based on the higher of a minimum of 21 games from Winter 2023-2024.
  9. If bowler’s previous season is only from a Sport/PBA league they will use the converted Sport/PBA average conversion chart and use that average
  10. If no 2023-2024 Winter average, then use highest 2024 USBC certified Summer Standard average of 21 games or more.
  11. If summer average is only in a Sport/PBA league then the converted average will be used.
  12. A bowler who does not have a previous season USBC certified average shall be accepted on the basis of the highest 21 or more games USBC certified Standard average of the current regular season at the time of entry mailing or online registration. A WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF CURRENT AVERAGE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THIS APPLICATION.
  13. A bowler who does not have a previous season USBC certified Standard average but only has a current Sport/PBA average shall be accepted on the basis of the highest 21 or more games using the Sport/PBA converted average at the time of entry mailing or online registration. A WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF CURRENT AVERAGE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THIS APPLICATION..
  14. If a bowler’s current average is 15 pins or more higher than the previous year’s or summer average ((A) and (B) above), they must use their current average.
  15. If no averages from above list, bowler will enter with a 240 average.
  16. It is the bowlers responsibility to verify average accuracy. Failure to use proper average shall disqualify scores if the summited average is lower than actual, thereby resulting in additional handicap being awarded. Prize winnings are based on the average submitted. If the average is higher than the actual average, in the case of a doubles team, the average is combined to determine whether the correct total is higher or lower than the total submitted. Corrections to average may be made before completion of the second game of the first series bowled.
  17. The 15-pin increase rule is for a current average higher than the 2023-2024 average as of February 1, 2025, based on 21 games.      USBC RULE 319D is waived.
  18. Sport and Challenge averages will be adjusted by using the USBC Conversion Chart for House Shot Tournaments.
